Intervista a Sophia Savarese: Un Nuovo Volto della Moda
Benvenuta Sophia! Raccontaci qualcosa di te e di come è iniziato il tuo percorso nella moda
- Quando hai capito che volevi fare la modella?
Ho capito di voler fare la modella già da piccola, guardando le sfilate in TV e ammirando la forza e la bellezza delle modelle. Per me è un modo di esprimermi e raccontare una storia con ogni passo e ogni abito. È qualcosa che sento naturale, come un’estensione della mia personalità.
- Chi sono stati i tuoi modelli di riferimento o fonti di ispirazione?
Mi ispiro molto a Bella Hadid e a sua sorella Gigi Hadid, che trovo incredibilmente versatili e autentiche. Amo anche le supermodelle degli anni 2000-2010 come Gisele Bündchen, che hanno segnato un’epoca e portano con sé un’idea di eleganza senza tempo. Sono inoltre una grande fan del Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, che ho seguito sin da quando era uno show iconico negli anni ’90 e 2000. Quel tipo di modella, che sa dare carattere e personalità ad ogni abito, è quello a cui aspiro, anche se amo molto sfilare in passerella tradizionale.
- Com’è stata la tua esperienza alla Milano Fashion Week?
Sfilare per la prima volta alla Milano Fashion Week è stata un’emozione intensa, ma ero più concentrata che agitata. Quel nervosismo prima della prima uscita c’è sempre, ma una volta iniziato il lavoro, il tempo vola e si diventa parte di un flusso naturale. Ho avuto la fortuna di sfilare per cinque stilisti diversi, e ognuno ha aggiunto qualcosa di unico alla mia esperienza. È stata una grande scuola di vita e lavoro.
- Quali emozioni hai provato dietro le quinte?
Dietro le quinte ho trovato un ambiente molto professionale ma anche accogliente. Molte ragazze erano più grandi di me, ero un po’ la “piccolina” del gruppo, ma sono state tutte gentilissime fin dai casting dei giorni precedenti, facendomi sentire a mio agio e mai inferiore. Ho apprezzato tantissimo la professionalità e il rispetto che si respirava. Inoltre, ho capito quanto ogni stilista abbia un modo diverso di esprimersi: ogni collezione, ogni abito ha una sua storia e trasmette emozioni diverse. Un abito può comunicare qualcosa a me, mentre a chi sta accanto può suscitare un’emozione diversa. Ho percepito un perfetto equilibrio tra eleganza, tradizione e modernità in tutte le creazioni.
- Quale stilista ti ha colpito di più e perché?
Sono stata colpita da diversi stilisti, ognuno con una sua visione unica. Ad esempio, Darko lavora molto sulle tradizioni e sull’identità culturale del proprio Paese, trasmettendo un senso di dedizione profonda. Altri stilisti invece puntano su modernità ed eleganza, creando un mix innovativo e contemporaneo. Mi ha emozionata vedere come, dietro ogni collezione, ci sia un racconto diverso che prende vita sulle passerelle.
- Come ti prepari fisicamente e mentalmente per una sfilata importante?
Cerco di mantenere calma e concentrazione, seguendo una routine che include una buona alimentazione, tanto riposo e momenti per rilassarmi. Mentalmente visualizzo la sfilata per arrivare sicura e pronta. So che il lavoro dietro le quinte è fondamentale, quindi mi impegno a essere sempre presente e pronta per ogni dettaglio.
- Quali sono i tuoi sogni nel cassetto?
Il mio sogno principale è continuare a lavorare come modella e crescere nel mondo della moda, ma allo stesso tempo sono molto legata allo studio. Frequento il liceo classico e il mio obiettivo è anche laurearmi e magari proseguire con qualche percorso disciplinare o universitario. Voglio trovare un equilibrio tra la passione per la moda e la formazione, perché penso che entrambe siano importanti per costruire un futuro solido.
- Se dovessi descrivere la Milano Fashion Week con un colore, quale sarebbe e perché?
Se dovessi scegliere un colore per descrivere la Milano Fashion Week, sarebbe il giallo oro. Questo colore rappresenta perfettamente l’energia vibrante, la luce dei riflettori, l’esclusività delle passerelle e il calore dell’accoglienza milanese. Evoca glamour, innovazione e una vitalità che si respira in ogni angolo della città durante la settimana della moda. Come si dice spesso, “Milano splende di luce propria”, e il giallo oro è il simbolo ideale di questa brillantezza.
- When did you realize you wanted to become a model?
I realized I wanted to be a model when I was a little girl. I used to watch fashion shows on TV and admire the strength and elegance of the models. For me, modeling is a form of expression — a way to tell a story with each step and every outfit. It feels very natural, almost like an extension of my personality.
- Who were your role models or sources of inspiration?
I’ve always looked up to Bella and Gigi Hadid — they’re incredibly versatile and genuine. I also admire the supermodels of the 2000s and 2010s like Gisele Bündchen, who marked an era and brought timeless elegance to the runway. I’ve been a huge fan of Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show ever since it was an iconic event in the ’90s and 2000s. I aspire to that kind of model — one who brings character and personality to every garment — even though I also love walking in more traditional runway shows.
- What was your experience like at Milan Fashion Week?
Walking in Milan Fashion Week for the first time was intense, but I was more focused than nervous. There’s always that bit of tension before stepping out, but once the show begins, time flies and you just flow with it. I was lucky enough to walk for five different designers, and each one brought something unique to my experience. It was truly a life lesson — both personally and professionally.
What emotions did you feel backstage?
Backstage, I found a very professional yet welcoming environment. Many of the other girls were older than me — I was kind of the “baby” of the group — but they were all incredibly kind from the very first castings, making me feel comfortable and never out of place. I really appreciated the respect and professionalism I saw around me. I also learned how each designer has a different way of expressing themselves: every collection and every outfit tells its own story and conveys different emotions. One dress can mean something to me, and something entirely different to the model next to me. There was a beautiful balance of elegance, tradition, and modernity in all the creations I wore.
- Which designer impressed you the most, and why?
Several designers left a strong impression on me, each with their own unique vision. For example, Darko’s work is deeply rooted in tradition and cultural identity — you can feel the dedication in every detail. Other designers focus more on modern elegance, creating innovative and contemporary collections. What moved me the most was realizing how behind every collection there’s a different story waiting to come alive on the runway.
- How do you prepare physically and mentally for an important show?
I try to stay calm and focused. My routine includes eating well, getting plenty of rest, and taking time to relax. Mentally, I visualize the runway so I can arrive feeling confident and ready. I know that all the work behind the scenes is crucial, so I always make sure I’m present, attentive, and prepared for every detail.
- What are your dreams for the future?
My biggest dream is to keep working as a model and grow in the fashion industry, but I’m also very committed to my studies. I attend a classical high school. My goal is to graduate and maybe continue with further academic or university studies. I want to find a balance between my passion for fashion and education, because I believe both are essential for building a solid future.
- If you had to describe Milan Fashion Week with a color, what would it be and why?
If I had to describe Milan Fashion Week with a color, it would be golden yellow. To me, it perfectly captures the vibrant energy, the spotlight, the exclusivity of the catwalks, and the warm welcome you feel in Milan during fashion week. It represents glamour, innovation, and the dynamic spirit that fills the city. As people often say, “Milan shines with its own light,” and golden yellow is the perfect symbol of that brilliance.
